POKHARA: Participants of Miss Chhetri Nepal 2012 are busy preparing for a pageant to be held here on July 21. They visited Kaski’s Dhikurpokhari VDC-based Kunwar Chhetri village to observe the culture, and tradition of the Chhetri community.
The 21 participants of the 1st Miss Chhetri contest returned after field visit to a Chhetri settlement, observing lifestyle, culture et cetera of Chhetris of the village.
Coordinator of Miss Chhetri Nepal 2012 and General Secretary at Chhetri Society Nepal, Kumar Khadka said that they have organised the pageant to attract Nepali Chhetri youth towards their own tradition and to protect their native culture. The competition is being choreographed by former Miss Nepal Usha Khadgi. A participant Nita Rawal of Dolakha said that she is feeling proud of her ethnicity after observing the typical settlement, lifestyle, among other factors of the community.
