KATHMANDU: A meeting of top leaders of major political forces-- UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Forum-- on Friday evening agreed upon 11 federal states with their names bearing no ethnic identity for now.
After the joint meeting held at the office of the Special Committee (for the supervision, integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants) in New Baneshwor, CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal informed the media that the parties have forged an understanding to build 11 states without ethnic identity.
The parties will sit together tomorrow morning to discuss the nomenclature of new states.
The parties held several rounds of meeting between and betwixt themselves in order to forge an agreement on various contentious issues related to new constitution including the number or states, their name and demarcation.
