KATHMANDU: A meeting of top-notch leaders of the three major parties – Unified CPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress, and CPN-UML including UDMF - convened to seek ways to resolve disputed issues incorporated in the new constitution at Constituent Assembly Hall at Nayabaneshwor on Saturday has ended inconclusively.

The meeting mulled over the disputed issues including the 10-state federal model proposed by the ruling party UCPN-M, said the sources privy to the meeting.

It is learnt that the parties are likely to forge consensus on federating the country into 7-9 states. Nepali Congress and CPN-UML are digging at dividing the country into 7 seven states.

The meeting of the bigwigs will resume again at 2 pm to iron out the differences and is expected to seal the deal on the contentious issues to be incorporated in the new constitution by 5 pm today, according to UCPN-M Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
