Minister Bista Magar said that there will be federal states based on identity and viability

RUKUM: Outgoing Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Lokendra Bista Magar has said that the new constitution will ensure federalism based on identity and viability.


Minister Bista Magar said that there will be federal states based on identity and viability, not on the basis of ethnicity as rumours were spread in the informal forums.


The former tourism minister said this at a meeting with political leaders, chiefs of the government offices, and journalists at Barhatakura in the district.


Bista Magar, also a politburo member of the UCPN-Maoist, said that political parties were divided over the numbers of provinces, delineation and their naming.


Minister Bista Magar said that federalism and form of governance were complex issues, so there will be compromise among the parties.


He expressed the confidence that the new constitution will be promulgated in the slated time as all parties were working hard to this end.
