Rapist held
DHANGADI: Police on Friday arrested the UCPN-Maoist Baitadi district secretariat member Ramsingh Saud ‘Roshan’ on charges of raping a 17-year-old girl of Sigasa VDC. Saud was arrested on the basis of a case filed by the relatives of the teenage girl seven days ago at Baitadi headquarters Patan, police said. Primary investigation shows that Saud raped the girl at Panas Hotel, DSP Bishnu Bahadur Karki said.
840 kg marijuana seized
MAHOTTARI: Bardiya police on Friday held three persons with 840 kilograms of marijuana that hid inside a bus heading from Bardibash to Jaleshwor along Bardibash-Jaleshwor road section. Detainees have been identified as driver Rabindra Moktan of Chitwan, bus helper Dil Raj Ghalan of Makwanpur and Prahlad Koirala, who was carrying the contraband, of Dhading. Bardibash Area Police Office Inspector Baburaja Khadka said they have already initiated necessary action against them.
Workers not paid salary for two years
Parasi: Workers of Bhrikuti Pulp and Paper Factory based in Gaindakot of Nawalparasi have warned of agitations saying that they were not given their monthly salary for two years. A meeting of workers held recently has piled pressure on joint the struggle committee to announce pressure generation programme demanding their salary. There are 333 permanent workers and 16 security guards at the factory. Most of the labourers said that they would elect new leadership if the struggle committee fails to announce fresh struggle programme to guarantee workers' salary. On the occasion, Coordinator of the Struggle Committee Ram Sharma said the protest programmes would continue until they get salary.
