BHAKTAPUR: A large number of devotees have been thronging the Brhamayani Temple based at Chyamasingh in Bhaktapur-1 since early this morning to observe the Brahamayani festival organised on temple premises on the occasion of the Vijaya Dashami.

The Brhamayani Temple is worshipped as the Shaktipeeth of the Goddess Naw Durga and a great festival is organised every year on the tenth day of the Dashain festival.

A large number of devotees from Bhaktapur, Madhyapur Thimi, Tathali, Sudal, Bageshwori, Chittapol, Sidapol, Naikhel and Gundu VDCs in the district including from Lalitpur and Kathmandu visit the temple to observe the fair.

On the occasion, Jamara (barely shoots), ducks and duck eggs, he goats and cocks are offered to the Goddess Brhamayani.

Devotees who have been fasting since Tuesday visit the temple by crawling early this morning and conduct puja lighting up five, seven and 18 oil-fed lamps on the body.

It is believed that ones' wishes could come true and they get free from all sorts of sinful deeds if they observe the festival in such a way. The festival will run until this midnight.
