KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday rounded up four burglars, who broke into Sunita Kumari Yadav’s mobile phone shop and fled with goods worth over Rs 650,000 in Naxal on April 19. The arrested are Sujan Karki of Bhaktapur, Parbat Rana of Udayapur, Ganesh Sapkota of Sindhupalchowk and Krishna Khadka of Ramechhap. They had taken 80 mobile phone sets, Rs 50,000, recharge cards and battery chargers. Police recovered 24 mobile phone sets and other electronic goods worth Rs 250,000 from them.
Teenager drowns
KATHMANDU: A teenage boy drowned in the Bagmati River in Sundarijal on the outskirts of Kathmandu on Saturday. According to police, 16-year-old Nishcal Karki of Bhairavsthan, Gyaneshwor died when he slipped from the rock and fell into the water while bathing.
‘Respect rights’
Kathmandu: Human rights activists on Sunday asked the government, political parties and other stakeholders to respect the human rights of people of the Far western region. The indefinite strike in the Far-west region for the last 11 days has brought the region to stand still. A press statement issued by Human Rights Organisation of Nepal (HURON) said the strike in the region was affecting every aspect of life.
