KATHMANDU: The scuffle ensued between the agitating Brahmin -Chhetri Samaj and police personnel deployed on the premises of the Constituent Assembly (CA) at Nayabaneshwor has left over 50 persons injured, on the day to promulgate the new statute.

The brawl took place after the fomenting Brahmin-Chhetri Samaj breached the prohibited areas at gate no 3 of the CA ranting slogans against the ethnic federalism.

DSP Siddhi Bikram Shah has also sustained injuries on his head.

Meanwhile, police lobbed five tear-gas shells on a crowd of protesters to take the situation under control.
