KATHMANDU: Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang consulted with the top leaders of the major three political parties on Tuesday morning over the issues of putting contentious constitutional issues at CA full House for voting.

The CA full House has been called at 1 pm today to settle the disputed issues through voting.

Nembang met UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML Chairman Jhal Nath Khanal before they make a last-ditch effort to reach consensus on forms of governance and federalism, the two thorny issues in the constitution, which awaits its promulgation by May 27 deadline.

According to CA regulations, the disputed constitutional issues will be settled through voting in the event of failure to garner consensus.

Though the CC is mandated to prepare a first draft of the constitution based on the decision taken by a simple majority, it requires a two-thirds majority to endorse the new constitution.
