KAVRE: Unified CPN-Maoist politburo member Bishwobhakta Dulal today said the upcoming Constituent Assembly election could be deferred by some months given the present political scenario.

Speaking at a symposium in Banepa, Dulal said, “Amidst the present political situation there is little possibility for the Constituent Assembly election to be held this year. Even if it is to be held it won’t be on the declared date of November 22 but could be held by March/April next year.”

Describing the fresh Constituent Assembly election or the reinstatement of the dead CA as a suitable option to thrash out the contentious issues, he clarified the Maoists will not accept the constitution made by any other body save the CA.

Dulal also accused the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML of pitching for the multi-identity states driven by their lust for state power.

Underlining the need for consensus among the major political parties in the present context, the UCPN-M leader said forming a consensus government by dissolving the ruling one as demanded by opposition parties could be a recipe for the worse situation in the country.
