KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) today announced the final squad for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup slated for Malaysia from June 23 to July 1.

Prithu Baskota will skipper the side, while Pradeep Airee is the deputy captain of the 15-member team. Other players who found their places in the squad included Rajesh Pulami, Sagar Pun, Naresh Budhayer, Krishna Karki, Avinash Karn, Faizlur Rehman, Bhuwan Karki, Hasim Ansari, Subash Khakurel, Rahul BK, Gopal Kumar Singh, Sourav Khanal and Ram Naresh Giri.

Those named in the reserve list were Nischal Pandey, Pawan Shrestha, Rupesh Srivastav and Prajesh Bahadur Singh. The players were picked from the 26 players who were undergoing close-camp training at the TU Stadium under chief coach Pubudu Dassanayake and his assistant Jagat Tamata. The seven players who failed to make the cut were Subendu Pandey, Shiva Tandukar, Sushil Kandel, Binod Lama, Abhishesh Jha, Bijay Ghalan and Surendra Chand.

Nepal are in Group A along with India, Pakistan and hosts Malaysia, while Group B features Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Qatar and Sri Lanka. Nepal will open the campaign with a match against India on June 23 at the Kinrara Oval before taking on Malaysia two days later at the Selangor Turf Club. Nepal will meet Pakistan at the RSC on June 26.

The top two teams each from both the groups will advance to the semi-finals, which are slated for June 28 and June 29. The final is on July 1 at the Kinrara Oval.
