KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Constitutional Committee, Nilambar Acharya, has intensified his meetings with the senior leaders of the major political parties to speed up the constitution-writing process.
In this connection, the CC Chairman met with Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Paudel on Thursday to draw his attention on the constitution writing at a time when the Constituent Assembly (CA) term has only 53 days to go.
Acharya on the occasion urged NC leader Paudel to be serious on constitution writing process as the CA term was approaching its end.
During the meeting, NC leader Paudel said the political parties were holding serious talks to take the peace process to its logical end and writing the new constitution by the set deadline.
He added that the constitution writing process would pick up speed once the army integration process was concluded and expressed hope that the army integration process would be concluded within a few days as the political discussion among the parties was intensified.
Acharya on the occasion stressed on the on the need of carrying out necessary homework to forge political consensus on the controversial issues seen during the constitution writing process.
The CC Chairman has already met with Chairman of the UCPN-Maoist, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and President of the CPN-UML, Jhala Nath Khanal to press for timely constitution.
Mainly, the political parties have differences on the state restructuring process, the electoral system, and the form of governance in the Constituent Assembly.
