KASKI: Chief Election Commissioner Nilkhantha Upreti said on Monday that the date to the new Constituent Assembly (CA) polls will be fixed within ten days.
Upreti, who arrived here to observe the voter’s list update campaign here in Ghachwok VDC, in the eastern part of the district, told The Himalayan Times that the new polls date will be fixed within 10 days citing that the political parties have tentatively agreed to amend the laws related to the CA.
The government is mulling over the amendment of the election related laws as disputes among the parties have already been solved, Upreti claimed adding “The government will declare the polls date within 10 days after issuing ordinance on the Constituent Assembly Election.”
Stating that the Election Commission (EC) has already initiated the proceedings of the party registration process for the upcoming purported CA elections, Upreti informed that the EC has already accomplished its internal preparations for the polls.
Upreti further informed that the citizenship distribution and voter’s list update campaigns are being carried out throughout the nation in a smooth manner.
