CIAA delves into misuse of PLA funds

KATHMANDU: Senior officials of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) today delved into alleged misappropriation of billions of rupees that the UCPN-Maoist leadership comprising party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai resorted to in the name of managing PLA cantonments.
“We discussed the matter based on reports. We may take up the issue formally if someone approaches us,” a ranking official shared. According to the official, CIAA Secretary Bhagawati Kumar Kafle sought feedback from joint secretaries, including Ishwori Prasad Paudel, and government attorneys on the issue. The Mohan Baidhya-led faction has accused the party establishment of misappropriating over Rs 3 billion allotted for the PLA.
