KATHMANDU: CPN-UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal today left for India to inaugurate a convention of the All India Pravasi Nepali Sangh, a UML-aligned association, slated to be held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on Monday. Surya Thapa, secretary of the party’s publicity department, said the UML chief had no plans to meet any of the Indian leaders during his visit.
Khanal is slated to return home on Wednesday. Thapa informed that the chairman has appointed vice-chairman Bamdev Gautam as acting chairman of the party and added that Gautam will lead the party in all bilateral and multilateral talks with other parties. Thapa said talks with parties will not be affected due to Khanal’s absence as Friday’s meeting of UML standing committee has come up with stand on all political issues. Three major parties and UDMF are slated to hold another round of talks tomorrow.
