LONDON: Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song Call Me Maybe has been voted as the Song of the Summer by Billboard
magazine.
The 26-year-old’s first single, which spent nine consecutive weeks at number one on America’s Billboard Hot 100 chart, topped the publication’s list of popular songs from summer 2012.
The Canadian singer is the first artiste, after Katy Perry to claim the title with a debut record.
Perry is also in this year’s top five with her track Wide Awake at number four, behind Maroon 5’s Payphone at two and Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know at three.
The top five is rounded out by Ellie Goulding’s Lights.
