KATHMANDU: Over a dozen senior advocates and former attorney generals on Tuesday seriously objected to the idea of political parties to curtail the independence of judiciary by introducing various norms in the new constitution. At a function organised by the Democratic Lawyers Association, senior advocates and former attorney generals have flayed the two year pre-condition for a Chief Justice to be appointed in the post of Chief Justice, four tires of courts and the formation of a separate Constitutional Court. According to the Democratic Lawyers Association president Yadu Nath Khanal, the legal luminaries also criticised the notion for parliamentary hearing prior to the appointment of judges and also urged political leaders to abide by judicial council rules.
