KATHMANDU: If you want to experience the folklore of Nepal and other countries through music and films, the International Folk Music Film Festival is where you should be. The International Folk Music Film Festival, Nepal-2012 is all about back-to-back folk films.

So, it is a call for all the filmmakers to share their knowledge on folk music. Be it a short film up to 30 minutes or long films from 31 minutes to 90 minutes in the category of competition or non-competition film, one can submit films by July 31 for the festival that is to take place from November 23 to 25 at Nepal Tourism Board.

As per Homenath Bhandari, Secretary of the festival, “We have already received 70 films from 12 countries so far and we are expecting more films from 23 to 25 countries.”

With the theme ‘Music for Life, Music for Tourism’, the festival aims to conserve and preserve Nepal’s endangered music cultural heritage.

Sharing the objective of the festival, Bhandari shares, “Folk music motivates people and carries on our history. In our country of very versatile folk music, they are not being recognised.”

You can either drop the copies of your films at the Music Museum of Nepal, Tripureshwor, or email to lokbaja@btinternet.com
