KATHMANDU: Everest Challengers eased to a seven-wicket win over You We Rangers, while Max Media beat Global Bank for their first win in two matches during the Wai Wai Corporate Premier League Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

In the first match of the day, You We Rangers could only muster 109-8 in their allotted 20 overs after electing to bat first. In reply, the Challengers were made to struggle for runs but eventually got home with five balls to spare.

You We skipper Nikhil Goyal top scored with run-a-ball 30 while Abhishek Agrawal made 18-ball 23. Rabin Thapaliya claimed two wickets while Shankar Thapa, Chatur Chand, Bedendra Prasad Gupta and Sanjay Thing took one apiece for the Challengers.

The Challengers were jolted early with the dismissal of opener Shankar Thapa (two). However Om Karmacharya (15) and Arun Chand consolidated the innings by putting on 46 runs for the second wicket. After their third wicket in the shape of Narendra Chand (one), the unfinished fourth-wicket stand of 54 runs between Arun Chand and Chatur Chand guided the Challengers safely home.

Man-of-the-match Arun made 45 off 43 balls with six hits to the fence while Chatur scored run-a-ball 28 with four boundaries. Nikhil Goyal and Pratik Bagaria took one wicket each for You We Rangers.

In the second match, Max Media posted a modest 120-9 but defended the total by restricting Global Bank for 110-8 in 20 overs.

Max Media had Prithivi Kharel to thank for their victory as the bowler not only took two wickets but also contributed an unbeaten run-a-ball 20, the highest from their team, batting at No 11. Pradyu Dhanwantari (16) and No 10 batsman Diwas Lal Nyachhon (14) were the other top contributors for Max Media. Skipper Ranjan Thapa was the pick of the Global bowlers with three wickets while Sagar Bahadur Singh also snared two.

Only Ranjan (29) and Bobby Mulmi (18) led a brief defiance to the Max Media bowling in Global Bank’s run chase. None of the other Global Bank batsmen could contribute runs of note. Saroj Maharjan bagged three while man-of-the-match Prithivi and Deepak Singh grabbed two wickets each for Max Media.
