CHITWAN: Following the death of Tarun Dal Chitwan District chairman Shiva Paudel, the normal life here in the district has been affected due to general shutdown imposed by the Nepali Congress and its sister organisation since Saturday morning.
Tarun Dal cadres took to the street and burnt tyres to protest the fatal attack on Paudel by the CPN-UML's Youth Association Nepal (YAN) cadres in the District Prision on December 6.

The market areas have been closed and vehicular movement brought to a virtual standstill after the news of Paudel's death spread like wildfire in the morning. Paudel breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Neuro Hospital in the Capital at around 3:00 am this morning.
College of Medical Science Teaching Hospital in Bharatpur had referred Paudel to Kathmandu for further treatment on December 14. Five inmates including Paudel were injured in the jail when the rival group of inmates attacked them to take revenge of the murder of YAN leader Sanjaya Lama.
Paudel was a custodial remand on the charge of murder of Lama.
Industrial Expo affected
Meanwhile, the ongoing 2nd National Industrial Expo in the district has been closed for Saturday to mourn the death of Paudel.
Issuing a press release today, Krishna Prasad Adhikari, the chairman of Chitwan Chambers of Commerce and Industries, informed that all the activities of the expo will be closed on the 9th day of the expo today to mourn the death.
Earlier also, the expo, scheduled to begin on December 8, was postponed for the next day following the jail incident.
Security has been beefed up in the market area to avert possible clashes.
