KATHMANDU: The Conflict-hit National Society has submitted a memorandum while drawing the attention of the US Ambassador Peter W. Bodde over the delisting of the UCPN-Maoist from US terrorist list.
The memorandum submitted by Society Chairman KV Gurung states that the UCPN-Maoist has not returned the property seized during the ten-year long armed war and not abided by the past agreements while still in leadership of government since the CA election.
Society General Secretary Binaya Dhoj Chand said the UCPN-Maoist has not so far adopted the values and norms of democracy accepted worldwide including human rights, independent judiciary and free press, and it is a serious issue to delist from terrorist list without shunning arms and violence.
The US government has not given attention to its role for democracy and human rights as many have lost their lives, many have disappeared and many have been living displaced lives, it said.
The memo also states that the peace process could not move ahead as per peace accord and the 12-point understanding and convicted of murder are pardoned and cases are being withdrawn.
