KATHMANDU: Around 100 indigenous leaders representing different bodies of the Nepali Congress today submitted a 11-point memorandum to party president Sushil Koirala urging him to go for single ethnicity based federalism.
The group submitted the memorandum at NC headquarters in Sanepa demanding single ethnic identity; caste based pre-emptive right to rule and fully proportional representation system. They urged Koirala to rise above status-quoism on the issues of indigenous people.
In response, Koirala said Congress supported true inclusion of all underprivileged communities.
Meanwhile, former NC CA members lobbying for CA reinstatement, met Koirala and informed him about their campaign.
“It is time we hit the street unitedly against the Maoists’ unconstitutional move. We will discuss the option later,” Koirala told the former CA members.
