KATHMANDU: The Seagram's Royal Stag first Corporate Ping Pong Tournament, organised by the PartyNepal, an event management company, is beginning here at the National Table Tennis Training Centre from Friday.
A total of 16 corporate houses are participating in the two-day event. The Himalayan Times is the official media. The participating teams include Manakamana Development Bank, Ncell, Himalayan Distillery, Nepal Investment Bank, Global Bank, Surya Nepal, The Himalayan Times, G’Five Mobile, Kumari Bank, DHL, E24 Television, Radisson Hotel, Bank of Kathmandu, Commerz and Trust Bank Nepal, Verisk Information Technology and NIC Bank.
The Himalayan Times have been pitted against Global Bank, G’Five Mobile and Surya Nepal in the men’s singles category in Group ‘B’, while they will face the challenge from Surya Nepal, Bank of Kathmandu and NIC Bank in the women’s singles in Group ‘A’. In the doubles category, The Himalayan Times are drawn in Group ‘D’ along with Ncell, Surya Nepal and DHL.
The first-round matches and quarter-finals will be held on the inaugural day, while the semi-finals and finals are slated for Saturday. The tournament — which aims at building relations among the corporate houses — features three gold medals in men’s and women’s singles along with doubles events.
A corporate house can field a maximum of four players. The estimated cost of the tournament is Rs 200,000, while the entry fee for a team is Rs 15,000.
