KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that he was yet to figure out the spirit of Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai’s statement that he would not step down and the caretaker government would prevail.
Briefly speaking to the media at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital premises after visiting ailing Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel on Tuesday late afternoon, Dahal said that the government could be changed if a national consensus was formed.
When reminded that the prime minister however contradictorily said that he would not quit, Dahal said, "(I'm) yet to learn in what spirit he (the prime minister) said so."
After returning to Kathmandu from Brazil yesterday, Dr. Bhattarai had said that he would remain as the prime minister till the new Constituent Assembly elected a new government, dubbing the opposition parties' demands for his resignation as childish hauteur.
