KATHMANDU: A meeting held between Unified CPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and splinter CPN-Maoist Chief Mohan Baidhya on Wednesday has hit a snag as both the heavyweights did not budge from their stance.
UCPN-M Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had met leader Baidhya at his residence in Baniyatar today morning to tackle the confrontations seen after the party split among their cadres over the party office issue.
It is learnt that the duo also held discussion on the current political impasse including unification of the party. However, the meeting did not strike a deal as expected over the differences of the two leaders.
Sources said UCPN-M stressed on the need to forge consensus among the political parties to resolve the current political stalemate while CPN-M Chairman Baidhya pitched for a round table meeting as a way out to the present political imbroglio.
In a bid to settle the differences between the two parties, they have formed a four-member taskforce comprising Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Post Bahadur Bogati from UCPN-M and Hitman Shakya and Dev Gurung from CPN-M side.
