KATHMANDU: Bijay Dangol of hosts Annapurna won the boys’ U-15 title of the eighth Nationwide Inter-school Chess Tournament here on Sunday. Raj Prajapati of Khwapring and Suraj Lohani of Greenland finished second and third respectively. In the girls’ section, Kabita Prajapati of Khwapring, Ashma Shrestha of Greenland and Matina Kushi — also from Khwapring — were the top three finishers. Sanjay Shrestha of Greenland and Bina Jaiswal of Deep Jyoti won the boys’ and girls’ U-13 titles respectively. Likewise, Bikash Thoker of Deep Jyoti won the boys’ U-11 title with the girls’ top prize going to Perisa Tamrakar of Manipal Campaign Secondary School. Greenland’s Anish Neupane and Anusha Pandey won the U-9 events.

Rana nominated

KATHMANDU: Nepal Taekwondo Association (NTA) President Prakash Shumsher Rana has been nominated as the executive member of the Asia Taekwondo Union (ATU). Rana’s name was proposed by the central committee during the first general assembly of the ATU that was held in Vietnam on May 4, said NTA. Rana was nominated as the executive committee member recognising his contribution in Nepali taekwondo.
