KATHMANDU: The death toll from the April 30 explosion at the Ramananda Chowk in Janakpur rose to five with Dipendra Das (35) dying in course of treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj last night.

Bimal Sharan, Ranju Jha, Jhagaru Mandal and Krishna Upadhayay have already lost their lives in explosion that occurred at the site of a sit-in staged to pile press for the establishment of a Mithila state, injuring around 20 people.

Prime Minister had promised to airlift the critically injured victims to India for further treatment, but the promise has not materialised so far.

Eighteen seriously injured people, including Ramesh Thakur, Jamun Thakur, Dhirendra Mohan Jha, Raju Singh, Man Mohan Saha, Ram Babu Jha, Mohammad Wajir Shekh, Dipendra Das, Mukesh Yadav, Jay Shankar Thakur, Surendra Mandal, Sanjay Pariyar, Dilip Thapa and Prof Parameshwor Kapad, are undergoing treatment at the TUTH.
