GORKHA: Nepali Congress General Secretary Prakash Man Singh has demanded that the Legislature-Parliament declare the sole candidate in the prime ministerial race, Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Paudel, the Prime Minister.
Singh said this while inaugurating the western regional meeting of Nepal Teachers’ Union in Gorkha today.
Further on, he claimed it was unconstitutional to call the special session and start fresh polls for the prime minister. Singh said UCPN-Maoist’s non-compliance to past agreements had deepened the trust deficit between the political parties.
He said it will be impossible to complete peace and statue-drafting processes unless the Maoists dismantle YCL’s paramilitary structure, return seized properties to the rightful owners and agree on the management of their combatants.
“The peace process can be completed before UNMIN’s departure,” Singh said. On a different note, he said NC will not compromise with any forces on freedom. NC will always fight forces that are against democracy and socialism, Singh said.
