Deuba faction's boycott affects NC meeting

KATHMANDU: The central committee meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) held on Saturday to finalise names from the party to be inducted in the new government has been affected with the senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba-led faction boycotting the meeting, taking up the ongoing row concerning the party's sister organisation.

The meeting has been impeded when Deuba-close central members did not attend the meeting NC President Sushil Koirala called at his residence to finalise the names to participate in the government.

The meeting has not been convened yet following Deuba faction's stance to not attend the meeting, it is learnt.

Central members supporting Deuba did not appear in the meeting called at 3.00 pm this afternoon.

Saying that they would not attend the meeting called today to select the names to join the government till the internal dispute in the party regarding the sister organisations was resolved, Deuba-close central member Min Biswokarma said they have decided not to be the part of the meeting.Following this, Koirala along with some central members left for Rasuwa to attend the party's programme there.

NC is grappling with dispute about the names to be sent for the new government. Deuba faction is mulling to send a team under the leadership of Bimalendra Nidhi or Gopal Man Shrestha while President Koirala favours General Secretary Krishna Sitaula to lead the government on behalf from the party.Likewise, parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Paudel has shown interest to send another General Secretary of the party, Prakash Man Singh, to the government.
