KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Secretary Dev Gurung claimed that the downsized budget brought in by the incumbent government through financial ordinance on Sunday was against the Interim Constitution and not on par with the political consensus.
Speaking at an interaction programme organised by the Reporters Club after the Finance Minister read out his budget speech, Gurung argued that as the budget announced today exceeded the total amount of one-third of the budget of Fiscal Year 2011/12 by Rs 52 billion, it was against the Article (96) of the Interim Constitution.
Claiming that the government has introduced 50 new programmes in the budget plan,Gurung said that that was unacceptable.
