Dhading bus mishap takes 11 lives‚ wounds 20 on board

Rescue team taking out the dead, injured, their belongings from the ill-fated bus which met an accident at Mahesh Khola of Dhading on Tuesday pre-dawn darkness of August 7, 2012.

KATHMANDU: Eleven persons lost their lives and at least twenty others have sustained injuries when the passenger bus they were travelling on met an accident at Mahesh Khola of Dhading, on Tuesday morning.

10 died on spot while one succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital in Kathmandu.

Among the dead, nine bodies are of men and two bodies of women.

The ill-fated bus (Lu 1 Kha 7051) was heading to Kathmandu from Butwal till it skidded off the road and fell 150 meters down to meet the catastrophe at Mahesh Khola of Simle in Dhading district along the Prithivi Highway.

So far seven deceased have been identified as:

Phanindra Subedi, from Manpakadi 4, Rupandehi

Balram Chowdhary from Kopuwa-4, Kapilvastu

Mohan Nagarkoti, from Rudrapur-2, Rupandehi

Parwati Gharti Magar, from Tamghas-3, Gulmi

Sushila Magar, from Butwal

Ranjan Thapa, from Pokhara 6, Kaski

Sher Bahadur Thapa, from Rupandehi.

Four others are yet to be identified.

The mishap took place at 4am in the pre-dawn darkness.

Injured are being treated at Sahid Memorial Hospital in Kathmandu and Star Hospital in Lalitpur.

Police and locals carried out the rescue operation.
