DHARAN: Police officers deployed at Dharan, Bhanuchowk-based Ward Police Office, have been suffering due to leakage of rain water from the roof of office building.
But it was not seasonal occurrence. The building, built on 1979, has been completely decayed for lack of maintenance.
According to a policeman, the staff could not eat or sleep properly as the rain water leaks from the roof with the start of monsoon season. He said that they have frequently requested the concerned bodies for the construction of the building but their appeals fell on deaf ears.
Chief Sub-Inspector Suman Neupane said that they have been facing problem to sleep and perform other activities inside the building as water leaks from almost all parts of the roof.
“We remain busy for the whole day doing people’s service. But when it comes to take some rest, we have this problem,” Sub-Inspector Neupane said pointing to the water in the office.
The problem cropped up as the government has not allocated any budget for the construction work of police buildings till now.
There are instances in the police station, when some constables took their food in the kitchen with the help of umbrella and wearing raincoat while sleeping.
Dharan Area Police Office Chief DSP Rajendra Bista said that they have written to the District Police Office, Sunsari, for the maintenance of the building.

Whatever the budget comes they have no time for the proper management and this is the reason of leakage from the roof. Now again they want to have the budget for making their own homes and family. Who cares for the GOVERNMENT's offices as we all can see even the NAGARPALIKA of our place is it really in good maintenance, absolutely not so. This is all because of CORRUPTION. Bikash Rai, Dharan
