DHARAN: Thirty-six-year-old Seema Agrawal of Dharan-1 was awarded with the title of ‘Best Saree’ in the Summer Saree Fashion Show held in Dharan on July 7. A total of 200 homemakers had participated in the show organised by Shradha Store.

Agrawal expressed, “I put a saree everyday and for me it is simple to put on. But I had never thought that I would win a prize for it.”

After winning the title, Agrawal expressed an added interest towards new designs of sarees.

Reena Rai was declared the first runner-up, while Bina Shrestha was the second runner-up.

Six other participants won different titles in the contest.

Chief guest Dr Meena Agrawal, Fashion Show’s designer Seema Todi and Proprietor of Shradha Store Manoj Todi distributed the awards to the winners.

Programme coordinator Jhuna Rai said the contest was organised to encourage women to wear sarees and make them aware about the significance of saree in the Nepali culture.

A total of 16 models walked the ramp after a week-long training by DJ Lalit. They doned sarees designed by Todi. Models wore sarees meant for different occasions — bridal saree, party saree and casual saree.

To add the excitement, singers Saroja Rai and Khushboo Rai crooned while local artistes showcased dances. Nisungma beauty parlour had taken the responsibility of the make-up of the models.
