Number of dolphins in the area has sharply decreased in the recent years.

BARDIYA: An adult dolphin was found dead at Bardiya National Park.

According to Assistant Conservation Officer, Ashok Bhandari, the dolphin measuring 7 feet and 2 inches was found dead at Janaknagarghat of Karnali River. The dolphin weighing 60 kg was around 10 years old, said officials.

Officials said reasons behind the death of the dolphin have not been ascertained as yet but the park officials suspect that the dolphin would have died of lung infection due to decrease of water level in the river and use of pesticide in river water.
