SOLUKHUMBU: The number of women filing complaints against their husbands in Solukhumbu district this fiscal year has reached five.
They have registered the complaints at the District Service Center operated for minimising domestic violence, accusing them of neglecting the family and family responsibilities.
Their husbands had set out to India and other different parts in the country for employment. It has been reported that they (husbands) neither have returned home nor contacted the family since then.
According to center's facilitator Mingmar Dolma Tamang, most of the married men who left the villages for jobs have been reported settled there after second marriage.
Most of the complaints that the center received in the current fiscal year are related to torture, polygamy, rape, property sharing, disappearance of husbands and child marriage.
The center that has come into operation since the month of Poush, 2066 BS has been successful in settling many cases.
According to the Center, the incidents of domestic violence against women in the district are increased by 40 percent as compared to the past.
