BHAKTAPUR: Allrounder Jeevan Lama struck a half century and took three wickets as Narayan Academy recorded a 53-run win over Mahendra Vidyashram while Dreamland School defeated Bhanu Bhakta Memorial School by 46 runs in the Chief of the Army Staff Inter-school Running Cricket Tournament here today.


In the first match, Narayan Academy scored a modest 107-9 in 20 before restricting Mahendra Vidyashram for a paltry 54 runs in 14.1 overs. Man-of-the-match Jeevan scored almost half the team’s total. His 59-ball 51 included seven boundaries. Saroj Badal was the pick of the Mahendra Vidyashram bowlers with 4-9 while Laxman Hamo took three wickets. Mahendra Vidyashram’s run chase was cut short thanks to the disciplined bowling from Jeevan (3-8), Sameer KC (2-7) and Ram Krishna Jaishwal (2-15).

In the second match of the day, Dreamland defended their 123-7 by dismissing Bhanu Bhakta for 77 runs in 13 overs. Piyush Gautam struck 63-ball 62 for Dreamland with seven hits to the fence and one six. Raju Das also chipped in a fluent 32 from 27 balls. Dipendra Ghale took 2-18 and Anikesh Singh 2-34 for Bhanu Bhakta.

Himanshu Maharjan and Neeraj Maharjan top scored for Bhanu Bhakta with 18 runs each. Man-of-the-match Raju Das (5-27) completed a five-wicket haul for Dreamland. Milan Karki and Sishir Thatal also bagged two wickets each.
