KATHMANDU: Special Court (SC) on Friday has issued a detention order for defendants Meghu Prasad Jaiswal and Murari Nepal for further investigation on graft charges.
A division bench of three justices Gauri Bahadur Karki, Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Prasad Chalise today has issued a verdict to put the accused duo Nepal and Jaiswal in detention for further investigation as per the Secion 7 (E) of the Special Court Act, 2059 BS and to incarcerate the remaining 39 accomplices involved in the misappropriation of the government funds.
Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority had filed a writ petition against the then acting Local Development Officer Murari Nepal and Engineer Meghu Prasad Jaiswal, accusing them of tampering with the due procedures while spending the budget allocated for 15 roads in Bara district.
Transactions exceeding Rs 150,000 should be carried out in accordance with the Public Procurement Act, 2064 BS and Regulations, according to the law.
