BHAKTAPUR: A three-day Earthquake Preparedness Society (EPS) training kicked off in the district today.
The training will teach community workers to respond to emergencies, carry out first-aid treatment and provide relief in the aftermath of natural disasters, especially earthquakes.
Nepal Red Cross Society, Bhaktapur is organising the programme with financial support from the UK Red Cross.
“As Kathmandu most earthquake prone, the training will educate volunteers to rescue and givefirst-aid efficiently,” Bhaktapur Red Cross Programme office Dinesh Thapa said. A large section of the Valley’s population is vulnerable, Thapa said, “ It is important to prepare with life-saving measures in the aftermath of natural disasters.”
