KATHMANDU: On December 18, Christmas Kids Carnival was held at Soaltee Crowne Plaza. The carnival is organised every year in the second week of December for a day to cheer up the festive mood. There were 13 games, pony, train and jumpy rides. Children were seen enjoying it thoroughly. There were varieties of food such as biryani, pasta, deserts et cetera along with a free flow of beverages.
The concept of the carnival was the same as in the past years, but there was a little bit of upgrading. The main objective was to involve not only children but parents as well. Therefore, musical chair was introduced separately for mothers and fathers. “They enjoyed it so much that they were complaining we should have included more games, exclusively for parents,” shared Sony Chaudhary, assistant manager — marketing and public relation at Soaltee.
Furthermore, like every year there was a stall for free dental and skin check-up and the children who entered were provided with gift hampers. The event was not profit oriented. Thus, none of the stalls were charged.
“Its objective is mainly to bring the children and their parents together to lighten up and have fun,” said Chaudhary. In addition, 11 children from an orphanage were invited because they deserved it.
The event had a lively atmosphere where some were playing games, others were either relishing food or just enjoying the moment.
“We were expecting 800 people, but
the turnout exceeded our expectations,” said Chaudhary.
Though the event was supposed to close at 4:00 pm and according to Chaudhary, “looking at the footfall, we have to extend the time”.
