MAHENDRANAGAR: The Far-Western Region has been shut down on Friday protesting against the Maoist proposal of dividing the nation into 10-federal states. The irate locals have shut down the transportation and educational institutions in the Far-Western Region demanding that the Far-Western Region should remain intact even after carving the federal states.
The Unified CPN-Maoist proposal of dividing the nation into 10-federal states has drawn wide criticisms from several quarters. The non-Maoist parties in Mahendranagar district have supported the shut down. They have also decided to stage a mass demonstration at 4 in the afternoon, protesting against the Maoist proposal.
