MAHOTTARI: Five locals were wounded in retaliation against a gang of robbers who open fired four rounds in the air and detonated two bombs in Kishannagar on Saturday night, District Police Office Mahottari said. The injured were Ram Bilas Mahato, his wife Ramparidevi, son Pradip and daughter Sangita and neighbour Mukesh Mahato. The weapon wielding gang, looted property worth Rs 4 lakh including cash, gold and silver ornaments and clothes from Mahato’s house. Mukesh has been undergoing treatment at Neuro-hospital Biratnagar, while others are being treated at Bardibas hospital, police said.

Elderly killed

POKHARA: Tikaram Tamang (84) of Bajkhet VDC died after being hit by a microbus in Pokhara on Sunday. Police said Tamang succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Manipal Hospital. Police have impounded the micro bus and detained the driver.

Buffalo meat

RAMECHHAP: Somchheki Sherpa (11) of Karnasi Sherpa Tol at Gupteswor VDC in Ramechhap died and 16 others were taken ill after consuming buffalo meat on Sunday. All the injured are undergoing treatment at local medical center. Yesterday, villagers had consumed the meat of dead buffalo.
