KAWASOTI: Hilly villages of remote parts of Nawalparasi district have been facing acute shortage of food grains as no transport was run for one and half months in the VDCs.
The situation came as no vehicles run as there are landslides in dozens of places from Kumsot to Pangre in the Daldale-Bulingtar road section.
Bulingtar, Dandajheri, Arkhala, Naram, Ruchang, Dedhgaun, Dhaubadi Bharatipur and Jaubari VDCs have been facing the crisis, said Ruchang Former VDC Chairman Homnath Pandey.
The crisis was said to be because of the District Development Committee (DDC) Nawalparasi's neglect to remove the landslide which occurred on June 21. The landslides occurred as the contractor Mahalaxmi Pacific JV did not work as per its responsibility of upgrading the road, said District Technical Office Nawalparasi Chief Engineer Mahesh Chandra Neupaney.
People have been angered as they blame the DDC that it could not direct the company to complete the works and are suffering from the weakness of the DDC, said one Kosh Raj Poudel.
No consumer goods can be found in shops of the hilly region, said businessmen.
