Forest patrol targets poaching‚ smuggling

The initiative is launched to protect natural resources by preventing poaching and smuggling in entire forest zone under the Area Conservation Office‚ Jomsom.

POKHARA: Jomsom-based Area Conservation Office of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project has launched forest patrolling initiative to check illegal hunting and smuggling of wildlife in the area.


A joint forest patrol team comprising members of Annapurna Conservation Area Management Committee and employees and security personnel of Area Conservation Office Jomsom has started patrol from Muktinath forest area since April 17.


The initiative is launched to protect natural resources by preventing poaching and smuggling in entire forest zone under the Area Conservation Office, Jomsom.


Meanwhile, the Area Conservation Office, Jomsom has recently completed a weeklong wildlife preservation campaign at Kowang VDC in the area.
