Forever denim craze

KATHMANDU: Denim is everybody’s all-time favourite. It doesn’t matter how old you are or how old your denim is, it will always be something to rely upon when you have nothing to wear or when you simply want to look trendy. Usually denim jeans are the most common choice, but during summers, it can be unbearable. Nonetheless, the option is not limited to jeans, for summers you can opt for denim shirt, skirt, jump suit, dress, shorts, waist coat and outers.

Moreover, the demand is so high that the new arrivals have already been sold out in most of the shops. But the silver lining is another set of new stock will arrive soon. This is the reason why those who have been hunting for denim attire are not able to find any in the market. But don’t worry here are some shops where you can find a few pieces.

Shop at

While shopping for anything, people without fail visit either of these two places — New Road or Durbar Marg, but if you take a detour, you will be quite surprised. So head to the area called Bhatbhateni, where there is a store called Ginza @ Ladies & Gents fashion wear. It’s a small store, but is somehow eye catching with its interesting display.

Like everywhere, they get their stuff from Bangkok and Nima Lama, Managing Director of the store claims, “We only get the best quality products from Bangkok and get what’s in trend.”

Though he also mentions that the “price is not that different from the rest of the places in the Capital”, nonetheless, one can get different products here “as we update our stock every month”. They make sure not to repeat the same

product.

Out of all the items available, there is always a popular choice and this time it’s denim attire. “At least seven customers come here looking for denim jackets, skirt and dresses in a day,” informs Lama.

Even at Blue Berry, Woodland Complex, Durbar Marg, they get their products from “Bangkok” as per Sabina Waiba, owner of the store. And she mentions that “it’s the same stuff that other stores

proffer”.

Another store that again has their denim collection is DS Collections, Durbar Marg. Though their stuff are from Bangkok, Tara Lama, Sales Associate of the store claims, “We don’t have anything in common as we get a maximum of three pieces for one design.”

Moreover, when it comes to denim attire one can find more varieties here than elsewhere. After all they have to cater to the demand where “in a day almost 10 people come here looking for denim clothes, mainly for shirts and summer jackets,” mentions Tara.

What’s in store?

If there are no choices in a particular store, then there is no point wasting time. Move ahead and look for another place. But it’s not that simple as who has so much time, everybody is either busy with work or studies. Besides only just one weekly off day makes things worse. So to make things a little easy for you, it is essential to mention what’s in store for you.

At present Ginza has a few denim dresses, jeans, shorts, belt and skirts. “We also had shirts, but it got sold out,” says Nima. Nonetheless, by May 25 their new stock will arrive with new denim designs.

At Blue Berry you will find recent additions of shirts, dresses and outers. For denim shirt, it’s not the usual ones rather it has some patch work with stone wash “which is very popular among teenagers,” adds Waiba. There are also high waist skirts which look very trendy, but only those will a flat tummy should dare to wear it. Even colours are not the usual ones — apart from black and blue there are grey and pink shades available.

At DS Collections, the choices are comparatively more, though even here new stocks have been sold out. At present, the store has different coloured shorts, jeans, waist coats, jackets and a few jump suits. There are many colourful denim clothes here, which at present is the current trend. Some of those are in mustard, brick red, purple, brown, blue, red et cetera.

A little less

With all this comes the most important part — discount. Whatever the price, getting even a little bit of discount is like a cherry on top. According to Nima, “We give 20 to 25 per cent discount for general and regular customers respectively.”

It’s slightly different at Blue Berry where the discount is 15 to 20 per cent and at DS Collections for “walk-in customers we have 10 per cent off whereas for regulars we offer 20 per cent off”. And the new collection will arrive a week from now. “This is a probable date though,” mentions Tara.

So start saving up some cash, only then you can opt for these denims. After all, who doesn’t want to look trendy?
