KATHMANDU: Four children died after drowning into a ditch at Phulbari-1, Town planning of Kailali on Wednesday.
They sank into the ditch, at a farm near to their community, constituted by rainwater at around 10am, police said.
The four minors identified as Ram Bahadur Bhat,8, Laxman Bhat,6, Govinda BK,8, Sharmila BK,6, died from 'accidental drowning', said DSP Rana Bahadur Rayamajhi.
They had gone to the ditch for swimming.
A farmer who was planting paddy saplings at his farm had seen them getting water into their lungs, and informed police.
Two others--Hari Bhat, 11, Deepa Bhat, 5-- who have been rescued are undergoing treatment at Seti Zonal Hospital.Their condition is also critical, police said.
Meanwhile, body of the deceased have been sent to Seti Zonal hospital for autopsy.
