Free press is lifeline for democracy: Prez

BARDIBAS: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has said that the latest political agreement signed by the major leaders of top political parties has ensured timely promulgation of the new constitution on Friday.Inaugurating the newly-constructed building of Federation of Nepalis Journalists (FNJ), Mahottari chapter, in Jaleshwor this morning, President Dr Yadav said that the free press was the lifeline for democracy and suggested that all political parties should work for the protection of free press.President Dr Yadav also asked the locals of Mahottari district and surrounding areas to unite for the conservation of Chure region and save the fertile lands from being barren.
On the occasion, FNJ President Shiva Gaunle stressed on creating environment conducive for the journalists to work independently.The chapter has built the building in two kathhas of land at Rs 1.97 million in Mahottari district headquarters, Jaleshwor.
