KATHMANDU: National and ‘A’ Division League champions Nepal Police Club (NPC) will play against i-league outfit McDowell Mohun Bagan Athletic Club in a friendly match here at the Dasharath Stadium on Saturday. NPC, who returned on Friday after participating in the AFC President’s Cup Group ‘B’ Qualifiers in Cambodia, are set to field four Mega Three Star players in goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong, defenders Sandip Rai, Biraj Maharjan and striker Santosh Sahukhala apart from their former Bharat Khawas. Mohun Bagan arrived on Thursday without influential forward Odafa Onyeka Okolie and midfielder Hudson Lima Silva The match kicks off at 7:00PM.
Dynamite triumph
KATHMANDU: Danchhi Yuva Sarokar Samiti, Navakiran Youth Club and Dynamite Sports Club won their respective matches of the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull ‘C’ Division League Qualifier here on Friday. Danchhi edged past Chibahal Youth Club 2-1 on goals from Mahesh Ghalan and Raj Kumar Shrestha. Prashant KC replied for Chibahal. Chhabi Lal Devkota and Raju Shrestha scored as Navakiran defeated All Boys Club 2-0. Dynamite sneaked past Afal Youth Club 1-0, with Roshan Kumar Chaudhary scoring a late winner.
Rana to play Szabo
KATHMANDU: Nepali boxer Saraswoti Rana Magar has been drawn against Beata Szabo of Hungary in the 60kg first round bout of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Qinhuangdao, China on Saturday. Another Nepali boxer Dina Gurung will also start her campaign with a match against Nigerian Ogoke Edith in the 75kg category the same day. Top eight boxers in each three weight categories will earn tickets to London Olympics.
