KATHMANDU: Vice-Chairman of CPN-Maoist CP Gajurel today claimed that the country’s independence is in dire straits and urged the concerned parties to form a joint front among the nationalist forces.
Addressing a programme on ‘Issues of Joint Front and Nepal’s Communist Movement’ organised by the Revolutionary Communist Party, Gajurel said it was essential for the nationalist forces to unite to save the nation.
He suggested that the front will have to include nationalist leaders and cadres within the Nepali Congress and CPN UML as well.
Gajurel, who was arrested in India during the people’s war when he was with the then CPN- Maoist, also said Indian interference was the major challenge for Nepal, and therefore a joint front must be formed to counter it.
He also said the third front was essential because the fronts led by NC-UML and the Prachanda-Baburam and Gachhadar have been deceiving the people.
On his part, CPN-United secretary Sitaram Tamang said the so-called large parties have been fighting for power even when the nation is about to plunge into a disaster with no government and law. He opined that the movement was the only way to save the nation from any impending disaster for which the revolutionary forces must unite and form a joint front.
General Secretary of Revolutionary Communist Party Mani Thapa said a joint front of revolutionary leftist forces should be expanded to a greater front for a long-term alliance so as to conclude people’s democratic revolution.
