KATHMANDU: The Joint National People's Movement Committee Nepal has expressed grave concern over the police intervention on the torch rally organised on Wednesday evening.

At a press meet organised here on Thursday, Committee Coordinator CP Gajurel said more than 20 leaders and cadres were injured as a result of the intervention.

Leader Gajurel accused Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal of betraying the revolution and surrendering.

It was a blatant interference into the party for the Nepal Army to enter into the cantonments of the People's Liberation Army's fighters. It has devalued peace, constitution and people's livelihood, he added.

According to a press release distributed on the occasion, the Committee has come up with protest programmes till May 14.

The protest programmes include people's gathering, signature campaign, march-past, and torch rally.

Earlier, the committee meeting concluded that the protest programmes it carried out so far were very successful.
