Galaxy enter semi-final; GCA edge RMIS

BHAKTAPUR: Galaxy Public School routed Deepjyoti School by 67 runs to enter the semi-final of the sixth CoAS Inter-school Running Cricket Tournament here at the Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya (SAM) grounds today.

In the Group ‘A’ match, Galaxy posted a mammoth 190-4 in 20 overs. Deepjyoti, in reply, were restricted to 123-7. Galaxy stay a top the table with five points, while hosts SAM are second with three points. Deepjyoti were knocked out after the defeat.

Man-of-the-match Nabin Budhathoki clobbered nine fours to top score for Galaxy with a 27-ball 47, while Adil Khan made 43 off 40 with five fours. Ayush Hamal chipped in with 27-ball 30 and Dhirendra Raut made unbeaten 27 from 15 balls. Both the batsmen hit four boundaries each.

Sushil Thapa, Hari Adai and Ajay Sitaula picked up one wicket each for Deepjyoti, for whom Bikash Pun (28) and Ajay (26) led a mild resistence. Bikash hit three boundaries and a six in 29 balls, while Ajay’s 30-ball innings included four hits to the fence. Rajendra Dahal and Nitesh Shah took two wickets apiece for Galaxy.

In a low scoring Group ‘B’ match, Greenland Children Academy (GCA) defeated Rajan Memorial International School (RMIS) by 16 runs to leave the pool wide open. GCA, RMIS, Nepal Police School and Brishaspati Vidhya Sadan all have two points from three matches.

Batting first, GCA were all out for 92 in 17.4 overs but their bowlers did well to restrict RMIS for 76-8 in

20 overs. Man-of-the-match Bijaya Karki took three wickets in GCA victory and Sandeep Sherchan had two scalps. Santosh Khadka (18), Rahul Mishra (14) and Anil MC (11) were the only RMIS batsmen to make runs in double figures.

Earlier, Omik Pradhan made a 15-ball 22 with three boundaries, Sanjeev Ghising scored a composed 21 off 19 and Sahil Thapa collected 15 runs to help GCA inch closer to three-figure mark. Rahul Mishra, Anil, and Asim Shrestha grabbed two wickets each for RMIS.
